CEE News and Program Updates
Congratulations to the young scholars who have been selected for the RSI 2017 program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)!  The program will start on June 25th and close on August 5th. The website has information for students who are interested in applying for next year’s program.  They can start by reading about the program here. Meanwhile, stay tuned to RSI updates on CEE’s social media sites.
The 2017 USABO Semifinal Exams are being scored now. The 20 USABO Finalists will be announced on April 26th. National Finals will start on May 28th at Marymount University, Arlington, VA. At National Finals, Team USA, the top four students, will be recognized and will compete at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) at the University of Warwick in Coventry, UK from July 23 to 30! TEP will be wrapping up PD sessions for the year next month. Virginia teachers – invites for our May events just went out, so check your inbox! Visit the Bite of Science and Teacher Roundtable pages for the latest schedule and registration information. Don't miss your chance to connect with scientists and engineers in your community!

Thanks to all of you who have attended and participated in TEP events this year. Don’t forget to check out the TEP Lab Bench for videos, slides, and supporting material for all of our events in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. BioSTEM Clubs
The BioSTEM Clubs program has kicked off in ten high schools across Virginia. At these pilot schools, scientists are visiting classrooms to talk about their research, with demonstrations and hands-on activities for students, classes are touring world-class research facilities, and students are preparing to begin summer research projects. The 2017 Research Science Initiative (RSI) at Tsinghua University class has been chosen.  The top-achieving 10th and 11th grade high school students of Chinese nationality will gather for six enriching weeks of challenging STEM coursework and cutting-edge individualized STEM research projects at Tsinghua University. CEE is recruiting for paid teaching positions as Tutors and Writing Coaches for the 2017 RSI Tsinghua.  RSI Tsinghua runs from July 9 to August 19, 2017.  Tutors (on campus July 7 to August 19) work daily with a group of 8 to 12 students, assisting them in understanding their STEM research projects as well as developing and honing their scientific writing and presentation skills.  Writing Coaches (on campus July 31 to August 19) assist students with preparation of their written papers and oral presentations.
In addition to a stipend; travel, visas, room and board are provided for these positions.
